Biographies of the current Jo Bob Hille Memorial Scholarship recipients:  Garrett Powders, Brad Kershaw, and Austin Crandall

Garrett Powders

In a recent interview our first scholarship recipient, Garrett Powders said...

This year has been truly one of first experiences. I have started acting in plays for RSU theater. I've moved up at the radio station from production director to music director. In my first year at that position I've been nominated for a national award by College Music Journal for the "Best Newcomer" and the station has been nominated for "Most Improved," and I am traveling to New York over Fall Break for the CMJ Music Marathon. I also won a scholarship from OETA which recognizes some of the top students in broadcasting. With all of that, I'm still continuing my education. I've almost completed all of my degrees and am currently preparing for life after college. The Jo Bob Hille scholarship has helped me in college more than I can express. Without it I wouldn't have had the opportunity to have all the experiences I'm currently enjoying or have been able to pursue a second minor in graphic design. The First Tee has helped shape me into the man I've become and I still carry the principles of the 9 core values with me. I am truly grateful for all The First Tee and the Jo Bob Hille Memorial Scholarship has done for me.
